About the Event
Join us for this unique day-long writing workshop in which we'll be reflecting, reading, and writing about the prospect of the "wasteland".Â
As the doomsday clock ticks ever closer to midnight, our task is not one for the faint hearted. It is our job to be awake to the signs, to imagine beyond the collapse, to strike a match in the darkness, and nurture seeds in the would-be rubble.
Whilst our subject matter is somewhat heavy on this occasion, you can rest assured we're a very friendly and welcoming bunch! 😂😂
So, whoever you are - whatever your level of curiosity - feel free to RSVP, then come along for teas/coffees, a late lunch, and lots of mindful writing exercises in between.
As always, no experience of writing is necessary. No pressure to read or share your work in front of the group. Nobody will put you on the spot... for anything at all.
Together, we'll be having a look at some existing examples of how authors have dealt with apocalypse, wastelands, annihiilation or destruction historically speaking.
Once we've generated lots of ideas together, we'll give you prompts to write a small handful of your own "Novel Beginnings".
We meet at 11am, do a warm up writing exercise whilst having some teas/coffees, then straight into our first workshop. We'll break for brunch around 12:30pm, then do our second (smaller) writing workshop, till 4pm.
When we're done with our writing, we'll invite you to stay for a drink (this is included in the price, and can be a pint, a small glass of red or white, or a soft drink).
If you like, you can stick around to meet other people like yourself, who'd love to know more about writing, London, life, creativity, and the wider world.
One way or another, we hope to elevate your mood and help you dig deeper into things that really matter.
You'll even get a free Penguin modern classics book!
Text 07534 981 636 if you have any questions at all - we're more than happy to help. :)
