About the Event

THIS IS EPIC!

If you want to write the work of your life... DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!

On the 19th, 20th, and 21st July this year we're hosting the creative writing retreat to end all creative writing retreats!

We've teamed up with Tall Trees Glamping in Glastonbury, Somerset, to create a creative writing experience that will be second to none.

This is for you if you have an idea for a novel, a short story, a collection of poems, or a screenplay (whether you have started it already or not, we'll be catapulting you into the creative process, in a cacoon of writerly transformation to make sure you bring it into being once and for all!).

WHAT IS IT FOR?

The retreat is not just for writing. It's a time dedicated to you relaxing, decompressing, and truly nurturing yourself, emotionally, creatively, and socially.

THE FACILITIES AT TALL TREES

Tall Trees is a luxury centre for retreats in the Somerset countryside, surrounded by nature, with wooden lodges, a fairylit orchard, local fields, a games room, a meeting space, woodfire pizza ovens, BBQs and verandas.

Each lodges contains individual bedrooms - for single people or couples - with its own kitchen and hangout spaces (so you're not always required to be with the group!).

WHAT WILL THE RETREAT INCLUDE?

  1. 4 x creative writing workshops on tone, dialogue, character, and narrative arc/poetic journey.
  2. A collage workshop for you to creatively visualise your characters or scenes.
  3. Plenty of quiet writing and reading time.
  4. Luxury glamping lodges in a Somerset field with your own seperate/private bedroom.
  5. Walks around a beautiful Glastonbury orchard
  6. Creative Meditations/Visualisations
  7. Breakfast and dinner each day (***the cabins are self catered, so you're welcome to bring your own snacks, fruit, drinks, and ingredients for lunch to make in your own time during the days).
  8. A "Bake-Off" style cooking competition
  9. Table tennis
  10. Games of Pool
  11. Games of table football
  12. Feedback from the group on your writing (**But only if you want it!)
  13. Walks in the countryside
  14. The opportunity to make new writerly friends and connections
  15. Campfires and BBQs
  16. One to one creativity coaching when the retreat is over!

WHAT IS THE AIM OF THE RETREAT?

This retreat is for you to fully get going with that creative writing project you've always wanted to write.

We've called it "To Be Continued..." because we know how difficult it is to discipline yourself to write beyond your time there with people in the workshops. So we're building in a complete, wholesale project for you to make room in your life beyond the retreat, to continue with the work.

Not only will this include a collage component in which you'll give visual form to your character(s), but also a 1.5-hour creativity coaching session between you and Sean (your host) in the week or two after the retreat is done.

We'll be creating and firmly grounding the intention to complete the work, with creative meditations and visualisations to help you envisage the psycho-geography of your creative world (that's the landscape of your novel, or the scenes and themes of your poems, plays, or screenplays).

WHO WILL BE HOSTING IT?

My name is Sean and I've been hosting retreats and workshops with A Write & a Pint for nearly 10 years.

I studied creative writing at Kent University for my BA, then studied an MA in literature at Goldmsiths University in London. Since then, I've studied Screenwriting with Metfilm in Ealing Studios, Novel Writing with Curtis Brown Literary Agency, and Existential Coaching at Oxford University.

I love literature: novels, poems, short fictions, screenplays, and even microfiction. I'm also a big lover of culture more broadly (social, politics, plays, music, and really anything else you care to talk about!).

Over the past few years, I've also trained as a coach (at Animas Coaching Insitute). This has allowed me to work with actors, dancers, writers, CEOs, teams, and individuals in career transition, and on a host of creative side projects.

I'm here 100% to help you with your work, to create a positive, friendly, non-judgemental environment for you and the other people in the group to have an incredible, relaxing, and highly creative time on the retreat.
